A quick note from Leah’s husband

To the PHAB team, thank you for creating a work environment that truly shows up for people. Your support, flexibility, and care for Leah have meant more to our family than you may realize.

As we prepare to welcome our baby, we’ve been reminded how powerful a supportive community can be. Knowing Leah has a workplace that feels like a family has brought us so much comfort and confidence during this transition.

We are deeply grateful for every message, gesture, and bit of encouragement you’ve shared.

Now that my legal obligations are covered, let me tell you about the woman whose life I’ve lovingly dragged into Comic Sans.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you so much for your love and support! I created this website for Leah so that we could share more than just our shopping list with you; this page will be a living document where we share updates on the pregnancy. That being said, Leah wanted to make sure it was clear that she is not responsible for anything on this website. (See above✒️) If Leah were involved, I can assure you this page would be immaculate. She is an incredible decorator and designer with a natural eye for the arts.

In this note, I want to share with anyone and everyone reading -- especially Leah -- one thing I love about my Wife, and why I believe it indicates she will be the MOST loving, nurturing mother. What is this attribute?

Shopping.

The other day, Leah and I had a successful trip to the best thrift store in the world: Hillcrest Platte County. A magical place where any wish can be granted for like 90% off retail... As long as your wish is to live in a cute + cozy cottage home with your best friend and create a beautiful nest for your growing family that is.

Suffice it to say, we love Hillcrest. And likely due to our near weekly visits, Leah has become a genuine miracle working expert in thrifted home design. She tenderly considers every detail of a space and takes time to feel her vision.

I didn't believe in feng shui until I walked into our home for the first time after Leah finished decorating our entryway. Through this talent she brings feelings of peace, comfort, order, and safety into our home.

But what does all of this have to do with being a good mom?

At first glance, it's easy to spot the connection of a few transferrable skills like planning, execution, budgeting, organization, etc. But one connection might not be so obvious:

Leah doesn’t just buy things. She sees them. She sees what they could become, where they might belong, and how they could make a space feel more like home. She looks past the scratches and outdated colors and imagines the potential waiting to be brought out with a little care.

That’s what she does with everything she loves. She sees potential before it’s obvious, order before it exists, and beauty before it’s finished. And that’s why I know she’s going to be an incredible mom.

Our child will be so lucky to be known the way Leah knows things. To be seen for who they are and what they can become, even before the rest of the world catches up.

So yes, Leah is the kind of person who can walk into a thrift store and find magic in the clearance bin. But more than that, she’s the kind of person who makes life itself feel found, curated, and cherished.

And if you ask me, that’s the best design decision anyone could ever make.

Thank you Leah for letting me be a part of this journey with you. I'm so excited to meet the person we create, and I know he's going to love you just as much as I do.
